The Lord of the Rings Whisky Now Available To Buy Online In The UK

EDINBURGH, 21th October 2026 – UK fans of The Lord of the Rings can now pre-order Ringbearer, the officially licensed single malt whisky created to mark 25 years since The Fellowship of the Ring had its world premiere in London’s Leicester Square in December 2001. Edinburgh-based CASC Whisky Ltd. has secured the exclusive rights to import and sell the whisky in the UK, with pre-orders open now at pokenowhisky.co.uk for £89.99 and bottles shipping between December 2026 and January 2027.

In the UK, Ringbearer is available to buy exclusively online at pokenowhisky.co.uk. Set within a hidden underground close beneath Edinburgh’s Old Police Chambers, The Lost Close will be the only place in the UK where fans can taste the Ringbearer whisky. Guests will be able to join a whisky experience or one of a series of special Ringbearer events themed around the films in January 2027 – the month of J.R.R. Tolkien’s birthday. Capacity will be very limited, so fans are encouraged to sign up here to be the first to hear about these exclusive events and when tickets go on sale.

“Bringing Ringbearer to the UK, and making Edinburgh its home, is a dream for us,” said Chris Cusiter, CASC Whisky Ltd. “It’s a serious single malt with a story fans will love. Pre-orders are open now, just in time for Christmas.”

“We’re delighted to have been chosen as the place to experience Ringbearer Whisky at The Lost Close. At the heart of what we do is storytelling, creating atmospheric tastings and introducing guests to whiskies with remarkable stories of their own. Bringing the legend of The Lord of the Rings to an underground space steeped in centuries of history creates a striking contrast, and one that feels perfectly at home in The Lost Close.” said Katie Scott, Head of Events and Experiences at The Lost Close. “Our January events will be a real celebration of the films, and of a remarkable dram. We can’t wait to welcome people underground to taste it.”

A whisky from the land where the films were made

Ringbearer is distilled by award-winning Pōkeno Whisky in New Zealand, the country where the trilogy was filmed, in partnership with licensed collectibles creator Syzygy Forge. Made from 100% New Zealand barley and aged for at least six years, it is matured in first-fill bourbon, virgin oak and French Muscat casks, plus casks seasoned with local Manuka honey – a first for whisky, according to the distillery.

Golden in colour, it opens with creamy vanilla, white chocolate, Manuka honey and white peach, moving to spice, banana and melon on the palate before rich honey on buttered toast and a long, warming finish. It comes in collector’s packaging inspired by the maps of Middle-earth.
