Exclusive Underground Whisky Tasting Celebrating Kilchoman Distillery’s 20th Anniversary

The Lost Close, will be hosting a one-night-only event to mark the 20th Anniversary of Kilchoman Distillery on December 15th.

Edinburgh’s hidden gem, The Lost Close, will be hosting a one-night-only event to mark the 20th Anniversary of Kilchoman Distillery, one of Islay’s most respected independent whisky producers. Taking place on Monday, December 15th at 8PM, this immersive experience combines history, storytelling, and world-class whisky in a truly unique underground setting.

Katie Scott, Head of Experiences & Events at The Lost Close, commented:
“We are proud to showcase Kilchoman Distillery in such a distinctive setting. Sanaig has long been a favourite in our Connoisseur Whisky Tasting range, so bringing the full selection to our guests for this anniversary celebration feels like a natural and exciting progression. It’s an opportunity to experience exceptional whisky in a space that’s as rich in history as the drams themselves.”

Guests will enjoy a bespoke tasting of four exceptional Islay single malts from Kilchoman’s acclaimed range. Machir Bay, the distillery’s flagship expression, offers a harmonious balance of maritime peat smoke and citrus sweetness. Sanaig, named after Islay’s rugged coastline, brings a richer, sherry-led profile with notes of dried fruits, caramel, and gentle smoke. Loch Gorm, Kilchoman’s annual sherry-matured release, delivers deep complexity with flavours of dark fruit, sticky toffee, and smoky undertones. Completing the line-up is 100% Islay, a true grain-to-glass whisky crafted entirely on the distillery’s farm, showcasing light floral peat, vanilla, and citrus for a pure expression of Islay craftsmanship

Ken Langenfeld, Sales Manager at Kilchoman Distillery, added:
“We are delighted to work with The Lost Close for this anniversary tasting. Their underground space creates a great sense of atmosphere, and it feels like the ideal setting to showcase our whiskies through a genuinely engaging experience.”

Founded in 2005 on Rockside Farm, Kilchoman revived the tradition of farm distilling on Islay after more than a century. Today, it remains independently owned and family-run, producing whisky entirely on-site - from barley to bottle - a rare commitment to authenticity and heritage.

Alongside the tasting, The Lost Close’s Storyteller will share the fascinating history of this secret underground venue, Kilchoman’s journey, and the traditions that make Islay whisky world-renowned.

The Kilchoman 20th Anniversary Whisky Tasting will be hosted at The Lost Close on Monday 15th December at 8pm – spaces are limited and online booking is required.
